My name is Yana Smolentseva, and I am a Ukrainian actress.I did not choose the name Surat by chance — it is my maiden name. It became a tribute to the memory of my father and a thank-you to my parents for the strength I carry within me.
It all started 8 years ago, after my role in one of the most popular Ukrainian TV series. Its format was unique: until the very end, viewers did not know what was fiction and what was reality. Under the terms of the project, we were forbidden to talk about our personal lives — I had to stay in character even off camera.
Because of this, people perceived me as my character. And when the series was released, the wave of emotions directed at the character poured out directly onto me.
Then a close friend of mine, who already had experience wearing a pendant with a real mirror, told me:“Wear a mirror. Let it reflect all the negativity.”
We took a small mirror out of an old powder compact, went to a jeweler she knew — and he helped us bring this idea to life. Together we created my first mirror pendant.
This pendant became not only my talisman, but a pendant with meaning, a true protective amulet that supported me. It became the prototype of Surat’s first collection — VEIL, where it all began. It formed the basis of the Vitok model, which still reminds us today: the power of the mirror lives in every Surat piece.

The path to realization
A mirror is a fragile material that is difficult to work with. It took years to find a technology that made it possible to realize this idea correctly, with quality and style.
Today, every Surat piece is made exclusively from precious metals: • women’s pendants in 925 sterling silver with various finishes (light oxidation, dark oxidation, rhodium plating); • rhodium-plated silver — coated with a thin layer of platinum-group metals, which gives the piece durability and a noble shine; • gold-plated silver (yellow or rose gold); • 585 and 750 gold (yellow, rose, white); • platinum and other precious materials.
